Real Weddings :: Ami & Kevin

Friday, September 04, 2009

We know it has been several months since our last post, but we are going to make up for it with today's Real Wedding feature.  It has been a great summer & wedding season.  We have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful brides and even assisted in the set-up of some amazing affairs.   Our absolute favorite of the year was Ami & Kevin's wedding at the Montage Resort & Spa.  Kelly Michelle Weddings contracted Prim & Pixie to provide the stationery along with several other exciting projects like the birdcage, flip flops, cocktail napkins, ice bar artwork & all of the items for the ice cream bar.  We were also lucky enough to assist Kelly in set-up on the day of the big event.  It was so great to work along side some of the best vendors in the business.  We are  going to let the pictures speak for themselves. So sit back and be prepared to swoon. Oh, and when you are done drooling over the pictures, head over to Elysium Productions blog post and check out the incredible video!

Real Weddings :: Rebecca & Vic

We can not say enough wonderful things about this wedding....The unique color combination, the vintage/spanish feel, the lace table overlays and The Dress. Um, did you see the back of her dress? Stunning. It was not a surprise to us that the wedding turned out so gorgeous, Rebecca is an absolute doll with incredible taste. It was such a great pleasure to work with her. I am sure it also helped that she had Jennifer Johnson on her side and The Deering Estate as the backdrop of her fabulous affair.

Real Weddings :: Lauren & Kris Platinum Wedding

Tuesday, March 24, 2009
We are going to let Jennifer Johnson give you all the fabulous details of our next wedding because she, along with Tamara Cohen, designed this event and frankly because she tells is so well....

I am absolutely thrilled to be blogging about one of our favorite couples, Lauren Book and Kris Lim! As many of you know, their fabulous wedding held at the Fairmont Turnberry Resort in Aventura, FL was filmed for the television show Platinum Weddings which airs on the WE Network in March of 2009. This wedding was a collaboration of Jennifer Johnson and Tamara Cohen under our original company name, White Light Event Design.

The wedding began in a large clear top tent where guests were seated ampitheatre style to create an intimate setting for the 600 guests. There wasnt a bad seat in the house. The chuppah was beautifully decorated in thousands of roses, hydrangeas, and orchids in shades of whites, pale pinks, and greens. The aisle was lined with beautiful boxes of lush white hydrangeas accented with hanging green amaranthys. Of course the aisle was adorned with a blanket of soft rose petals.

As each member of the bridal party made their way down the aisle a ivory sheer curtain would open to reveal them. The ceremony was an interfaith ceremony with a methodist minister and a jewish rabbi. At the end of the ceremony the couple sealed their vows not only with a kiss, but with their famous "high two" before exiting to a string trio playing the theme song to I Love Lucy.

The cocktail hour boasted full ivory draping and amber uplighting with several lounge areas including 50" plasma tv's playing a slideshow of the couples engagement photos. Perhaps the most impressive items in the cocktail hour though, were the amazing wish tree at the end of the corridor and the ice bar and luge with the couples logo in full color (I will get a photos of this soon).

The reception was a vision in led lighting in and soft lavender with pattern lights changing throughout the night. Ivory fabric was draped to the center of the room adorning the focal point of three large floral spheres. The band was framed by a fiber optic curtain which looked like a starry sky behind them. Two large screens framed in ivory fabric played the couples love story before their grand sparkler entrance, and later had a live feed so everyone could see the toasts, cake cutting, and of course the 3 Cirque du Soleil performances set to music of the Beatles. Later in the night a slideshow was played giving guests a sneak peak at the ceremony photos taken earlier in the day. The cake was a stunning 5 tier confection that sat on a table made of ice complimentary to the ice bar and luge that had been displayed in the cocktail hour.

After a night of fabulous dining and dancing, Lauren and Kris were wisked away in a floral decorated golf cart (Kris is a pro golfer who was just sponsered by Nike) to the most amazing fireworks show I have ever seen.

How incredible is this wedding? Thank you Jen for the great re-cap. Now onto the stationery...

The save the date was a multi-page booklet that included all of the important wedding details and several family recipes for different types of cookies.  Included in the box was three heart cookie cutters with ribbon and a customized tag that read "Cut out for each other; Lauren & Kris; June 7, 2008" .

The invitation was made up of several layers of shimmer cardstock with silk ribbon and was adorned with a crystal flower brooch. The invitation ensemble sat in a box made of dupioni silk and was then placed in a sturdy mailing box.

Real Weddings :: Kristin & Michael

You can see from our invitation assortment that we love destination weddings. Particularly ones that take place on the Hawaiian Islands. There is something truly magical about them. Kristin and Mikes wedding was no exception. They were married at the charming White Orchid Beach House on Maui. Kristin understood the importance of communicating every wedding detail to her guest since they would be traveling a great distance to share in their day. The Save the Date was designed to resemble a boarding pass and included four cards with wedding, accommodation, events and travel information. How excited would you be to get that in the mail? I am not sure how any guest could decline an invitation to a wedding in Paradise and to have a wonderful vacation already planned out! She followed the Save the Date up with a multi-page booklet invitation which included additional event information, a map of the island and driving directions.

Kristin, thank you for allowing us to be a part of this spectacular affair. We wish you and Mike all the best!

Real Weddings :: Tiffany & Shane

I am very excited to share this wedding because the beautiful couple are very close friends of mine and asked me to be a bridesmaid. Tiffany oozes beauty and style and I knew her wedding would not be an exception. She wanted lots of texture, warm hues of salmon, pinks and peaches and lots of bling. You can see from the pictures, she got exactly what she wanted.

Real Weddings :: Kim & Steve

Kim and Steve were so great to work with. They, along with Kim's parents, made sure that each detail was just right. Since we are such detail oriented people, we all got along just great! By the time the wedding rolled around, we felt like a part of the family and was so excited for their big day. The wedding took place at the fabulous Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel overlooking the ocean. We custom created the box shell invitation and incorporated ocean blues and sunset oranges that perfectly complimented their surroundings at the ceremony. Other details included a menu in the shape of a circle that was placed under the clear charger plates...so neat and tidy...and escort cards that were lined up in a box of sand.  All the details made this wedding truly spectacular!

We were so honored when Jennifer Calciano contacted us to do the invitations for her January 2008 wedding. She was part of the fantastic duo that made up White Light Event Design. Since then, she has branched out on her own and now is the founder and  creative director for Jennifer J Events. You will see from her own wedding that Jen has impeccable taste and knows how to put on a spectacular event!
